History

Owner Marla Beck's interest and passion in working with seniors started as a child. "I always felt fascinated and alive when I was around my grandmother. Life through her eyes was just so rich. She lived in San Francisco and one of the many things we did together was to go out and visit her elderly friends. I started this company as a way of giving back to the memory of my own grandparents and my father that I miss very much. Seniors have so much wisdom and insight. We are so focused on the young that have their wholes lives in front of them and tend to ignore our elders who have much less time. I feel that seniors are not given the respect and care they deserve and in my own way I'm trying to correct this."

The company began in 2003 as At Home Care and in 2007 the name changed to honor Marla's maternal grandfather; an immigrant from Czechoslovakia who lived just a couple of weeks shy of 102. The Czech word Andel means angel or guardian and more closely reflects the high level of compassionate service the company offers.

As a Sea Cadet, Marla worked closely with retired military veterans in local veteran's homes.
