Have you noticed how “in” food and cooking is?
These days you can’t swing a free-range chicken without hitting a Mediterranean Diet cook book or an Iron Chef wannabee!
Even the King County Library System (KCLS) has jumped on the food bandwagon with its seasonal speaking events called “A Place at the Table: Inspiring Cooks. Nourishing Communities.” These events are for all ages. Seniors are welcome. You’ll get lots of great information about food preparation, cooking and nutrition as well as online classes and community events.
Get more information at www.kcls.org/cooks to learn .
Want to learn how to “Create a Food Memoir?” Then head to the Bothell Library for the free presentation on Saturday, April 27 at 2 p.m. to gather ideas for making a food scrapbook, family cookbook and personal memoir.
There’s lots more – To help everyone find A Place at the Table, KCLS is accepting non-perishable food that will be distributed to 45 local food banks from March through December 2013. Look for a bin at all KCLS libraries. For more info go to www.hope-link.org and www.foodlifeline.org.
